About Me:

This will be a challenge to fill in what's been going on for so many years and keep it from being so long my classmates will fall asleep.

Attended KU 3 years, had a great time but no degree.

Worked one year in KC for People to People and then to West L.A. where I met Reid, my husband of 35 years. Reid is from Toledo, OH, and a graduate of U. of Michigan.

In 1965 we moved from Long Beach, CA, to Toledo, OH (to be closer to family). Our first son Joel was born in 1966.

In 1967 we moved back to Long Beach, California. (Two years away from California was long enough for me.)

In 1968 we moved to Mission Viejo, our first home (and our last), and second son Rhett was born.

In 1971 third son Penn was born. I am now greatly outnumbered by men, so we get female dog for support.

As the kids grew, we participated in the usual activities - Little League Baseball, Pop Warner Football, AYSO soccer, youth basketball, Indian Guides, high school football and track, & church.

We took up snow skiing along the way and as the kids grew, they also acquired a love for skiing. After reading the Keller's history, I'm surprised we never ran into them at Mammoth Mountain since we did most of our skiing there.

Another fun tradition that we started in 1984 was Easter break trips to the Colorado River to camp and water ski. The water is a bit cold in March and April, but we have so enjoyed that time each year with family and friends. We shall continue to make these trips until the kids tell us we're too old. One of these days, though, I think Hawaii might sound pretty good.

Joel graduated from high school in '84 and went right into construction work. He tried jr. college and then art college. He designed 3 shirts for Dunlop Tennis and found that entry-level pay in the art field is lower than he wanted, so back into the construction world. Right now he is working for himself and talking marriage with his fiancée of 12 years. He lives in Laguna Beach.

Rhett graduated from high school June of '86 and took that first year off, working at Mammoth Mountain ski resort (California). After returning home in the spring, he signed up for a young-adult Bible study, registered at the local jr. college and signed up for the football team. That August (1987) after a wonderful family reunion in Ohio, Rhett met his Lord face to face; His flight home crashed on takeoff. I noticed in reading many bios in our yearbook that several classmates have lost children and my heart goes out to them. It was the most difficult season of our lives, but it was then that Jesus Christ became so real to me and walked with my family and me through this storm. As the popular poem "Footprints" reads, He "carried" me a good portion of that time. With the help of God, family, and friends we made it through, so that now we can laugh joyously at the wonderful memories we have of Rhett.

Penn graduated from high school in '89 and from Cal State U. Northridge in '96. He now teaches history, and is a football coach at Murietta High School about an hour from Mission Viejo. He married Bonni Biniasz (and Megan, her 6-year-old daughter) in August of '98, so FINALLY we have a granddaughter AND a daughter! Penn is active in Fellowship of Christian Athletes and his church.

A couple of years ago Reid and I took up ballroom & swing dancing. We keep taking lessons, but we are definitely novices. It has opened up a whole new way to exercise and enjoy life, so I think we'll keep it up.

Reid loves to play golf and keeps encouraging me to take it up. I will, one of these days soon. We also enjoy bicycling with friends. Riding along the coast is especially beautiful and fun. I never get tired of the ocean.

We have a wonderful church, Saddleback Valley Community, where are we both involved in Bible study and small groups.

I still work as an admin (secy) at Unisys Corp (formerly Burroughs & Sperry) and I'm trying to make up for the time I stayed home raising the boys. I can't retire until I get more dollars in my 401K!

I look forward to the next reunion, wherever it may be, and hope to see many people who didn't show up for the last two. I hope they know that they are loved and missed by the rest of us.
